With meeting attendances falling, and having witnessed the success of the Upper Ward "Monday Club", four local "Middle Ward" Lodges decided to start a "Thursday Club".
Brother G. S. Hunter Maxwell P.M. , one of the prime movers (rumour has it that "Duracell" has been recharged) states that the objective was to increase attendances, Brotherly love, and much needed revenue for all concerned.
The Club operates on a rotational basis, with one Lodge holding a Special Meeting on the Fifth Thursday of a month, another Lodge confers a Degree, with a third Lodge witnessing, and the fourth Lodge also witnessing, or having the choice of a night off.
The scheme began on Thursday 30th October 2008 with a Special meeting at Woodhall St. John's No. 305. When St. Andrew No. 544 conferred a Degree, St. Mary Coltness No. 31 witnessed, together with Lodge Livingstone St. Andrew No. 573, as it was the first event everyone attended.
All four Lodges commissioned the splendid Plaque, above, from RWM Bro. Alan Baker P.M., Lodge Kirkton Hall No. 1614, as a symbol for the new venture.
Just under two years into the venture a new member was attracted and accepted into the Thursday Club, Lodge Coltswood Glenboig No. 1067.
Now over 3 years later and the Thursday Club is still going. Future meetings are announced in the Calendar of Events.
